Powerful logo for RKC Waalwijk

The soccer club wanted the logo replaced with a new design and asked Tundra as a Waalwijk-based design agency for advice and logo designs. Above all, the new logo had to be powerful and close to the soccer club's core values: fight, passion and pride. We gladly accepted this challenge!

To arrive at an appropriate new logo, as you would expect from a design agency, we researched the history of RKC Waalwijk, but also mapped logos of other soccer clubs. Many preliminary studies and logo proposals were reviewed and discussed in detail. After all, as a design agency we do not just design a nice shape, a good logo is a timeless and recognizable element in your corporate identity. In the design process, we substantiate all choices made so that the logo meets the core values of an organization.

Club colors
The traditional and recognizable color combination in the logo of 'our RKC' is yellow-blue; the team is also called 'the yellow-blues'. The main color is yellow: a reference to the home shirt and the loyal supporters who are also called 'The Yellow Army'.

Lion
The lion is a heraldic symbol for strength, the "Yellow Blue Lions" is also the name of the group of bondholders and the climbing lion is a typical Dutch symbol. In addition, the tongued and nailed lion is a derivative of both the coat of arms of Waalwijk and the coat of arms of Brabant. As a proud Dutch, Brabant and Waalwijk club, the powerful lion full of self-confidence has a prominent place in the RKC logo.

RKC
'RKC Waalwijk' is often referred to colloquially as 'RKC'; this is also the name the club carried for over half a century (1940-1996) and a reference to its origins (Roman Catholic Combination). The large letters RKC in the logo are a nice reference to the history.

Waalwijk
Based in and associated with the Municipality of Waalwijk, so of course the place name is also incorporated into the RKC logo. Proud of our origins!

Soccer
The shape of a banner is a historical tradition in modern soccer. Also, the shape of a shield is a historical symbol for Struggle, Passion and Pride, which is what the RKC logo is meant to convey. The vertical stripes in the logo are typical of soccer shirts. Because ultimately, when you see the RKC logo, you have to get the feeling of a soccer club. A club that goes into battle full of passion and pride!

The new logo was immediately embraced by all stakeholders including sponsors and supporters. This was confirmed with three supporters having the logo tattooed on their bodies the same evening! The powerful logo can now be found everywhere: on the soccer shirts, the stadium, on TV, the website and in campaigns like the one we realized to promote the new season tickets.
